On March 21, Ambassador Masahiro Mikami, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Belgium, visited Kanazawa University and paid a courtesy call on President Takashi Wada. During the meeting, discussions were held on further promoting cultural and academic exchanges between Japan and Belgium, in light of the 160th anniversary of Japan-Belgium friendship and the 55th anniversary of the sister city relationship between Kanazawa and Ghent.
Kanazawa University and Ghent University in Belgium signed an inter-university exchange agreement in 2009, facilitating student and researcher exchanges. During this courtesy visit, discussions also covered the possibility of expanding collaborations with other universities in Belgium.
